About Daniel
Haoyuan Xu is a Birmingham-based pianist and piano teacher with a Master of Music from the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and a Bachelor’s degree in Piano Music Education. His background combines strong classical training with a practical understanding of effective teaching, with particular strengths in early classical repertoire as well as contemporary and popular piano styles.
He is known for his patient, thoughtful, and structured approach, creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable and motivated. Having taught in both the UK and China, he is experienced in working with students of different ages, levels, and learning styles. Fluent in both English and Mandarin, he communicates clearly with students and parents, supporting steady progress and long-term musical development.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s level, goals, and musical interests, creating a supportive and structured learning environment. I teach students from beginner to advanced (ABRSM Grades 1–8), focusing on developing secure technique, musical understanding, and consistent practice habits.
Alongside classical training, I also introduce elements of contemporary piano, including basic chords, accompaniment patterns, and familiar songs, helping students explore a wider range of styles. I place strong emphasis on building confidence, independence, and long-term musical enjoyment, while ensuring steady and measurable progress.
