About Hayley
I have been working as a freelance seamstress for luxury fashion houses for 8 years since graduating from the Central Saint Martins BA: Womenswear course in 2017. I also ran my own womenswear label where I designed, pattern cut, sourced fabrics, developed and manufactured my own collections.
I specialise in woven fabrics and love fine finishes. I want to pass on the skills I've learnt from within the industry (and still learn - every day's a school day!) because I know first-hand that Youtube can be brilliant but can also only get you so far! Sometimes you need someone to assist you in your practice in a hands-on, methodical and creative way. Together we can work through any obstacles that stand in the way between you and your goals.
All of my lessons have a relaxed, positive and open-minded atmosphere, taking place at my light-filled studio at Makespace Oxfordshire, 1 Aristotle Lane. There I have a full set-up including domestic and industrial sewing machines, a mannequin, a huge cutting table and every colour of thread under the sun!

I want to help you develop your practice to create work that you're be proud of. A lot of my freelance work is to develop sewing solutions for designs using creative pattern cutting and sewing techniques, so I can guide you through the process of 3-dimensional thinking that really helps you to develop and sew your projects at a whole new level. An example of this might be working out how to make a certain pocket, billowing sleeve or a vintage-referenced collar.
The possibilities for your lesson are limitless and I want you to find the joy and excitement in sewing and pattern cutting. Within your lessons, mistakes are celebrated and creativity is encouraged! They're fully tailored to you and what you want to get out of them. Whether you're...
