I am a professional trumpet player, jazz musician and music teacher living in London.

For the past six years I have been working as a professional jazz musician in Europe, having initially studied at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and Codarts University of the Arts. I obtained my initial Bachelor’s degree at Royal Holloway University of London.

I currently work as a peripatetic brass tutor at a school in London and continue to teach online and privately.

I was on the brass faculty at the British School in the Netherlands. Aside from teaching there, I was involved in many of the schools ensembles, working in the school orchestra, funk, brass and jazz bands.

I worked as a private brass tutor for Vivaldi School of Music. Here I taught a range of students of varying ages and abilities from complete beginners to advanced musicians and adult learners.

I have a lot of experience teaching early years brass, having developed many young and beginner musicians to a high level of proficiency and motivation on their instrument beyond their years. Aside from this my professional experiences have helped more advanced students of mine into music college and into the professional industry. I am also happy to guide students through graded exams.

Aside from teaching brass, I also teach piano as well as the theory of jazz improvisation.

About the lesson

With beginners I take the time to let them get acquainted with their instrument, learning repertoire, simple theory and fundamental technique, gradually moving to more advanced studies. For more advanced players my experiences allow me to tailor my lessons to the direction my students wish to go in. whether that be just working on technique, learning classical music or other genres, or following my greatest passion; theory in improvisation and jazz music. Moving beyond the ability to just play your instrument but using it to bring out your own ideas, compose and write music and gaining the facility to understand music on a very in depth level! Becoming a real musician!

I also consider teaching other instrumentalists if you are looking to improve your jazz improvisation skills, or even just general music theory, ear training, harmony at the piano, composition/arranging and Sibelius skills. If any of the above sparks your interest, then get in touch!
