I currently have two years of teaching experience, of students at varying levels. I aim to make my students love playing the violin as much as I do, and work at both technical and performance aspects of violin playing through music that excites and interests the individual student.
I tailor my teaching style to each student, but always remain positive and enthusiastic, aiming to build independent and confident musicians. I always communicate with students about how they prefer to learn, such as if they are comfortable with me touching them, if they learn musical ideas better through words or demonstrations, etc.
When teaching beginner students, I incorporate playing pieces that the student genuinely likes as early as possible, as I find that enthusiastic engagement with the music that students are playing is invaluable in teaching solid technique and musicianship.
A typical lesson with me will start with a quick warm-up of scales and exercises, before moving on to pieces. Pieces can be in any style, and I get students playing music that is challenging but achievable for their level.
I am a first class music graduate from the University of Sheffield. I have thirteen years of playing experience, and two years of experience teaching both adults, and children as young as five. I have taught music in both an individual and classroom setting. I have put students through ABRSM exams, and they have exclusively received merit and distinction results.

Jenny is an excellent teacher, who has really helped me improve my technique and introduced me to and helped me understand much more of the theory as well :) I played violin for over a year and a half before taking lessons with her. Really friendly lessons and always enthusiastic and patient. I have done ten lessons now, some in person and some over webcam and never had any problems with organising or timing. Would definitely recommend!
Very passionate about music with special care for the theory behind it. Keen desire to foster enthusiasm for music in others and help them develop. Also a kind and compassionate instructor.
