About Barbara

2+ years private tuition with GCSE; AS and A-Level history students with 5 students. University mentor for students aspiring to enter the events industry, with 2 mentees each year. 1+ year experience as University admissions tuition- preparation for interview and personal statements, over 50+ students.

About the lesson

Qualifications: MSc in International Management (inc Event Management) and Joint Honours BA in Archaeology and Ancient History. Both from the University of Exeter.

Techniques & Methods: It is important to tailor each lesson to the students' needs. My first lesson is to examine this with the student and ensure they, and the parents, understand the syllabus, the work requirements and the exam board requirements. From there, each lesson is based on 1 focus, with homework, which helps develop essay writing and critical thinking: Vital in getting those top grades!

Characteristics as a Tutor: I am a professional events manager with over 8 years' experience in the industry. I also continue to study history and ancient history as it remains my personal passion.

Barbara tutored my son for his History GCSE and they are now working for his A level. Barbara has been fantastic at encouraging him to think critically and to construct and support his arguements. He has enjoyed their debates and the breadth of his knowledge has greatly increased.
