About Marlene
My teaching philosophy centers on fostering confidence and nurturing a supportive environment where students can thrive while building strong and sound proven techniques in acting and singing. Thus, my students will be well equipped with the sharpened skills and confidence needed in giving fantastic performances. Patience and perseverance is also an important element that I will encourage with my students as they continue their training with me. The process of practice and growth is very important! I’ve also helped students with breaking through and transforming performance anxieties and stage fright into building their self-confidence and strength. I have compassion for children and I too have experienced as a teenager tremendous stage fright but by cultivating an optimistic attitude and strong willingness I was certainly able to transform it. This is something I believe is the foundation of my work as a teacher. I, of course, do believe in fostering discipline and diligence which is so very important but always on a human level. I am passionate about helping my students discover their unique voices and develop their dramatic skills through diligent practice encouragement and confidence. I believe that when students engage in what they love, they unlock their full potential, and I am committed to guiding them on that journey.

As a New York City native with a rich Latin heritage, I am proud to be a bilingual/Spanish speaker and a professionally trained actress, singer, and comedienne. With a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Voice from the Manhattan School of Music, and my studies in drama with the Simon Studio, I bring over 15 years of teaching/coaching and advising children, teens and adults in the art of drama and voice. My teaching philosophy centers on fostering confidence and nurturing a supportive environment where students can thrive while building strong and sound proven techniques in acting and singing. Thus, students will be well equipped with the sharpened skills and confidence needed in giving fantastic performances. Patience and perseverance is also an important factor that I will encourage with my students as they continue their training with me. The process of practice and growth is very important! Therefore I encourage my students that paying close attention with patience and respecting the process of learning is essential. I’ve also helped students with breaking through and transforming performance anxieties into building their self-confidence and strength. I have compassion for my students, for as I too have experienced as a youth tremendous performance anxiety but by cultivating an optimistic mental attitude by utilizing proven meditational/mind techniques and a strong willingness I was certainly able to transcend it. I used it to push myself, evolve and advance forward. This is something I believe is the foundation of my work as a teacher. What I once saw as a hindrance with a change of perspective I began to see my fears as a source of empowerment and reinvention which is why I have compassion for my clients. I, of course, do believe in discipline and diligence which is so very important but always on a humane level. ABSOLUTELY NO “Whiplash” nonsense! I am passionate about helping my students discover their unique voices and develop their dramatic skills through diligent practice encouragement and confidence. I believe that when students engage in what they love, they unlock their full potential, and I am committed to guiding them on that journey.
