About Hilary
I have a BA in Philosophy and Cultural Studies and then went back for a Master's degree in Training because I thought it was very important to understand the best way for people to learn. I thought if I was going to be teaching or training at any level, I needed to know what worked, instead of being a talking, boring thing standing up there in front of the room. I had enough of that. I moved to California and saw a need for "good" high schools and collaborated on starting four charter high schools that were open to all. I played a variety of roles there including, teacher, founder, Director of Admissions and College Counseling. Later in life, I went back to school to get another Master's in Career Development and a Coaching degree to support people in transition. I continued to teach and sub at all levels and became a Professor at San Francisco State where I teach over 100 students a year. I receive great reviews about the class and it was voted one of the "must takes." I support college students in reading, writing and critical thinking. Let me know how I can help you.
