I have been working with Michael since January 2019 in a show that he directed me in. I found that Michael was very sensitive to the needs of every actor in the room, yet also challenged me and made me explore new areas of acting (such as improvisation) in a safe and supportive space, which enhanced my performance technique as a whole. Michael had a good and balanced approach both in the physical work, and the text work-he has a detailed eye, yet also understands that actors need to work off impulse, so I also felt ownership over the work. I always left the room feeling positively challenged, yet also like I had achieved something that day. Michael always brought a sense of fun to the work, and uses play to enhance the acting technique, which I found always created such a vibrant energy in the room. I'd highly recommend Michael both as a director and a tutor, as he has an expansive knowledge of theatre as a whole, and the experience I gained in the rehearsal room was invaluable.
