About Joanna
I love my subject and enjoy helping students reach their full potential in English. I feel lucky to have had such a wide range of work experiences, from mainstream classroom teaching, to examining, online and face-to-face tuition, and teaching students with additional needs. I enjoy my work with young people, but have also tutored adults at GCSE and A-Level. I have experience of teaching and/or examining a range of difference exam boards, including AQA, WJEC, Pearson-Edexcel and Cambridge Assessment International.

I am an experienced English teacher and I live near Dorchester in Dorset. I offer evening home tuition to local GCSE students in English language or literature in years 9, 10 or 11. Please get in touch if you are looking for extra support during your GCSE studies.
I qualified as an English teacher in 2006. I have taught English language and literature to children and adults aged eleven plus. I spent five years in a mainstream secondary, before moving on to home tuition and examiner roles for GCSE whilst my own children were small. I then returned to school, and have been teaching students aged eleven to sixteen with additional needs in a Dorchester school for seven years - with a particular focus on GCSE. I enjoy adapting my teaching to suit students with ADHD, ADD, ASC, dyslexia, anxiety and similar or undiagnosed needs, so that they meet their full potential in English at GCSE before moving on to college, sixth form or an apprenticeship.
