About Rachel
About Me I'm Rachel Stowe, a textile and jewellery artist with over 30 years' experience in art and design education. With a PGCE and an MA in Printed Textiles and Jewellery, I’ve dedicated my career to both creating and teaching, inspiring students of all ages to explore their creativity through materials, process, and personal expression. My work is grounded in a love for print, texture, and surface design, often combining traditional techniques with experimental processes. As an artist, I continually evolve my own practice, and as a tutor, I bring that same energy into the classroom—encouraging curiosity, confidence, and creative risk-taking. I offer online, one-to-one tuition in Art & Design, Printed Textiles, and Jewellery, tailored to each student's individual goals—whether preparing for exams, developing a portfolio, or simply exploring a creative passion. My teaching approach is personal, flexible, and supportive, rooted in practical skills, visual research, and creative development. I’ve taught in schools, colleges, and private settings, and I believe in nurturing each learner’s unique creative journey—helping them grow technically, conceptually, and artistically. I take a personalised, student-centred approach to tutoring, focusing on each learner’s creative goals, skill level, and individual interests. Whether teaching children, teenagers, or adults, I aim to build confidence, curiosity, and a strong creative voice. Lessons are structured to provide both guidance and freedom—balancing technical skill development with exploration and experimentation. My teaching methodology includes practical demonstrations, visual references, one-to-one feedback, and step-by-step project support. I encourage critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and an understanding of materials, processes, and design principles. A typical lesson lasts one hour, though this can be adjusted depending on the learner’s needs and age. Sessions are delivered online, offering flexibility and focused attention in a comfortable, creative environment. I hold a PGCE and a Master’s degree in Printed Textiles and Jewellery, and I’ve taught Art & Design for over 30 years across schools, colleges, and private settings. My professional background also includes working as a practising artist and designer. Lessons are suitable for all ages and levels—from complete beginners to students preparing for GCSEs, A-levels, foundation courses, or building portfolios for university applications. I also support adult learners looking to explore or deepen their creative practice. Each session is tailored to help students grow both technically and artistically, with encouragement every step of the way.
