About Rebecca
I started synchronised swimming when I was 10 years old. Because of this, I have gained knowledge as a swimmer that cannot be taught to someone who has not been in the water doing the sport. I have been a part of the sport through the name change to Artistic Swimming, and have worked on my coaching, and have been a qualified level 2 coach since 2021. I have also been working on my level 1 judging qualification, so I can incorporate tips and knowledge into my coaching to maximise my swimmers' outcomes. I am always working to improve my knowledge of the sport and pass on the best quality information to the swimmers.
I have personally competed locally in the region as well as a few minor National events during my teenage years in the sport. I began competing in National Masters in 2009 at 19 years old. I was also a part of a Masters Team from 2020-2024, competing in the Regional and National Masters and placing in a variety of medal positions for free and combo teams, duet and solo.
Choreography is my biggest passion in Artistic Swimming. I love to create routines and work with individuals on their performance and presentation skills - just as important as the technicality of figures when swimming a routine for competition! I enjoy an eclectic taste in music and I always try to find original and quirky pieces of music to work with: something the judges have never heard before.
I currently work for a small local Artistic Swimming Club and want to extend my passion outside of this and reach a wider audience and build visibility of my favourite under-represented sport.

I believe that lessons should revolve around the ability of the individual, and I have built skills as a school teacher and a coach to differentiate my lessons around the swimmer. I work with beginners and advanced swimmers; children from 8 years up to adults masters swimmers.
My aim in Artistic Swimming coaching is building skills to produce beautiful routines. This begins with the basics. I ensure that swimmers have a good foundation of solid basic skills that can then be built on to work up to more technical skills and difficulty. I also bring a focus on body awareness and learning how your body feels in position to achieve maximum potential in figures and hybrids.
I try to plan my sessions around an individual's ability, while also being flexible with on-the-day vibes and attitude; I don't believe any productivity is achieved by sticking rigorously to a plan that just doesn't suit an individual's mood that day. I think this is vital in getting the best out of a swimmer at every session they attend. I always aim to plan a variety of activities, including skill drills, stamina building, and creating hybrids and choreography.
