About Gavin
I am a badminton coach who regularly coaches and plays in both Oxfordshire and Aylesbury area, I play in Division 1 for both league and represent Oxfordshire County 1st team. I am passionate about helping players unlock a higher potential, we can do that by doing technical and physical sessions in small quantities.
I usually do a technique and ask the student to take some homework with them to practise before the next session. This allows us to use the court time to learn something new, making the learning process more smooth.

My way of coaching is to work on footwork first, as this is fundamental to injury prevention and being able to hit good quality shots.
Through the weeks of footwork training, we will work on racquet handling, body position, different muscle groups to use and how these skills would be useful during a game.
We will move on to multi-shuttle feeding to further practise set skills with the correct technique, allowing the student to gauge and use the right shots at the right time with their own judgement.
After those skills have been met, we will do bespoke sessions to further enhance the student's ability with small drills, then applying those skills into the real game.
