About Caitlin
I am an NQT of Chemistry with Science within Edinburgh council. I graduated with a master's degree from HWU in 2022 and then decided to choose a career I was really passionate about (the combination of chemistry and teaching) and completed my PGDE at UoE.
I have tutored since 2016 in subjects including Chemistry, English and Maths for students ranging from primary to secondary school leavers. I have experience tutoring small groups of students as well as individuals.

The main aim of my lessons is to offer a fun and calming environment where the students can learn and gain confidence. I am a very patient person and understand that students learn at their own speed and will be very encouraging to the students so they feel comfortable enough to carry out tasks relating to their subject on their own.
The first lesson (45 minutes and free!) will consist of reviewing where the student is going wrong and what they're finding most difficult by going through topics and trying questions themselves. A variety of methods will be discussed to see how improvements can be made by finding out what techniques suit that particular student the best.
The future lessons (1 hour) will then focus on challenging areas by going through content to build confidence and then trying questions to make the content that the student has learned is secure.
Doing questions will be the main focus on the lessons as this is a great way to get comfortable with what can be asked in exams. Once a student has completed a question, it will be looked at in detail and any mistakes made the student will correct them and so it is less likely that they will make the same mistake again.
If at any point, a student has a question about something they learnt at school or in their homework, I would be more than happy to go through this with them as well.
I am an NQT in Chemistry with Science within Edinburgh and have tutored students ranging from primary school aged to school leaver age since 2018 which has allowed me to accumulate a range of techniques for teaching, studying and creating a thriving learning environment.
