I was trained at the Gorse SCITT, a leading training provider for the Gorse Academies trust. I focus on iterative learning, so starting at the basics and making sure every learner has the time to properly practice each skill before moving on to the next one. Maths is a practice based subject, and real progress comes from being taught the skills needed; problem solving, critical thinking and creativity.
I am a maths teacher in the Leeds area with a masters in chemical engineering, Before teaching I was a consultant engineer at Europe's largest biomass power station in the north of England.
I currently teach at secondary level both maths GCSE and statistics GCSE, and I am looking to start tutoring after school, and I am flexible with hours and weekends.
Having used maths extensively in my educational career and employment, I am in an excellent position to transfer my knowledge and experience to pupils, hopefully inspiring them that STEM subjects are not only crucially important but can also be exciting and fun. I have trained to be a qualified maths teacher within the Gorse Academies trust, and I am so glad that decided to change my career path to teaching. I genuinely enjoy the challenge, and I know that this is the most fulfilling job that I could ever have!
SKILLS & KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
Teaching: Completing my teacher training through the only outstanding SCITT provider in the Leeds area.
Industry: Whilst working at Drax Power Ltd, I headed an engineering team that installed a new biomass size screening facility, which saved over £750,000 for the company.
Conference: Chosen to speak at the Energy Science Lecture at the Royal Academy of Engineering about my PhD research.
PhD: One of the main skills taken from my PhD has been the organisation of my own project. I organise meetings, time schedules, lab time and equipment and liaison with my industrial partners. All of this requires effective time management, good communication and organisational skills.
Bachelors: During my final year of Oceans Science I co-authored for the Journal of Environmental Management 2016 on an article regarding marine protections.
Trainee teacher at the Gorse SCITT provider.
I was privileged enough to train at the Morley Academy, an OFSTED outstanding school and World Class School. I now work at the Boston Spa academy, which has recently joined the same trust, where I teach GCSE Maths and GCSE Statistics. I will start my NQT year at Boston Spa in September 2019.

I worked on a project to assess the viability of overband magnets during biomass transportation. I provided scientific testing of the material and the machinery to deliver a report on the risks of the magnets.
My other project was working as part of an engineering team to design and implement a biomass size screening facility, from conception through to installation.
