During my lessons I use highly effective socratic questioning which is generally aimed at expanding a students mind through questioning and discussing rather than telling. For instance, I could ask: 'Why are we using this formula?' or 'Could you explain that further'. I also emphasize the importance of differentiation by challenging my higher learners through extension questions and the opposite spectrum by making sure all knowledge gaps are plugged.
