About Gabriella
I am a qualified Special Educational Needs (SEN) teacher, tutor, and consultant with experience teaching in a number of special schools across Dorset. I have taught students aged 7-14 with a wide range of special needs including Autism, ADHD, Down Syndrome, Dyslexia, Global Developmental Delay, and Angelman’s Syndrome. My students’ ability levels have ranged from P-Level 4 (pre National Curriculum) up to mainstream secondary. While teaching, I have also held positions including:
-Communication and Literacy Lead
-Inclusion Project Lead (managing a special needs class within a mainstream school)
-Specialist Leader of Education for Special Needs
I have had the opportunity to help teach students to learn to read, write, and develop an in-depth understanding of both basic and complex mathematical concepts.
I am also experienced in introducing and using Makaton, Signalong, PECS, and other Alternative and Augmentative Communication Systems.

My lessons are for students of all ages with any additional need such as Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Down Syndrome and Global Developmental Delay.
I believe that students learn best when teaching is exciting, engaging, and adapted to their individual needs and interests. When I plan a lesson for a student I consider:
-Their current level (which I will assess for free in the introductory session)
-Their learning needs
-Their learning style- for example, do they learn visually or by running
around.
-Their individual interests- e.g. favourite films, hobbies, and books.
My lessons often involve a variety of different activities such as games and interactive resources.

If you need to cancel a lesson, please do so no less than 24 hours before the stated lesson starting time. If I am travelling to a home more than 20 miles from Poole, an additional travel charge will be added (price depending on distance).
