About KAREN
I am a qualified primary school teacher and I have adult teacher training qualifications as well as a certificate in coaching and one in counselling. I have an undergraduate degree in Social Science and an masters in Information Technology. I have been a private tutor for 8 years as well as working in primary schools either as a class teacher or an intervention teacher and manager - working with one to one and small groups of children. I have taught English from the ages of 4 to 18 years.

It starts with you. I focus my teaching on the child/person. We select key targets/objectives together and work towards them once we have fully established the following: what you want/need to know, what the 'gaps' are, how you learn, anything that makes learning more difficult, previous experience of learning, how much time we have to improve etc. After every session, we reflect on the learning and establish the key focus for the next one. Although I am fully aware of curriculum and test requirements, my experience has taught me to that the learning must be centred on the person and that it must also be both interesting and enjoyable!
