Communication
• As Chairman of Ulster University, Jordanstown Hurling Club, I contacted numerous other universities to organise the scheduling of fixtures, venues, referees etc.
• Present captain of Armagh Senior Hurling team and Ulster University Senior Hurling Team (2013-15); I deliver motivational team talks and instructions to ensure a clear structure and plan is present for all to adhere to in order to ensure targets are created and met.
• As part of Ulster Sports Outreach placement within Rathmore Grammar, I delivered Assembly presentation to various year groups. I also communicated positively via email and telephone.
• I also delivered various assembly presentations to children of all ages through my PGDE Primary teaching degree
Teamwork
• As captain of Armagh Senior Hurling team, I promote equality through teamwork and shared responsibility.
• Within Rathmore Grammar, I worked well as a team member with the other members of the PE Staff through Sports Day organisation and in group presentations to various year groups.
• In my PGDE Primary teaching, I assisted in school trips and school sporting events, ensuring behaviour management was positive and group control was maintained.
Problem solving
• As a sports coach, I am regularly dealing with situations that need to be taken control of, both on and off the pitch. I have been enhancing my man-management skills and personal skills over the past number of years.
• While scrutinising customer complaints in Craigavon Leisure Centre, I dealt with various different situations and through sound planning, I was able to make the correct decision in the interest of all parties.
Organisational skills
• As Senior Hurling Coach with Ulster University, I was responsible for organising training sessions and games, devising a structured time-table of training times and venues.
• In charge of administrative planning through Bus Bookings within Rathmore Grammar, leading to a structured plan of transport for sporting teams and educational visits within school.
• Fully competent and confident in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
