About Laura-Anne
Hello, I'm Laura-Anne.
I am a qualified teacher with over 10 years' experience working with pupils across KS1, KS2, KS3 and GCSE. My passion for education has always been about more than academic results. I believe that confidence, resilience and feeling understood are just as important as knowledge and skills.
I became a teacher because I love helping young people discover what they are capable of. I understand that school is not always easy. Some pupils find certain subjects challenging, while others may struggle with confidence, anxiety or simply finding a way of learning that works for them. Having experienced my own challenges with learning at different points in my life, I know how important it is to feel supported and understood.
One of the things I love most about tutoring is the opportunity to work one-to-one. In a busy classroom, teachers do their very best, but it isn't always possible to give every pupil the individual attention they deserve. Tutoring provides the time and space to focus entirely on one learner, tailoring lessons to their strengths, interests and goals, and helping them progress at a pace that works for them.
I particularly enjoy teaching English because I love the power of stories and how they help us make sense of the world. I aim to bring learning to life through discussion, creativity, drama and real-world connections, helping pupils develop not only academically but personally as well.

I am a qualified teacher with over 10 years' experience supporting pupils across KS1, KS2, KS3 and GCSE, including those with SEND and additional learning needs.
My teaching approach is built on positive relationships, recognising that every pupil learns differently. I take time to understand each learner's strengths, interests and individual learning style, tailoring lessons to meet their specific needs and goals. I believe pupils make the greatest progress when they feel confident, supported and engaged in their learning.
I specialise in English, phonics, reading comprehension, verbal reasoning, 11+ preparation and GCSE English. As a former English and PSHE Lead, I am passionate about bringing learning to life through discussion, creativity, drama, storytelling and real-world connections. Alongside academic progress, I support pupils to develop confidence, resilience, study skills and a positive attitude towards learning.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes in length, although shorter sessions can be arranged for younger learners where appropriate. Each lesson is carefully planned and adapted to the individual pupil, ensuring that learning is engaging, challenging and enjoyable.
I hold a PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), alongside additional qualifications in Understanding Children and Young People's Mental Health, Mental Health First Aid, SEND support and Educational Wellbeing.
