About Rachel

I teach entirely online from a quiet, simple setup, working with students who tend to find louder, more energetic teaching styles genuinely overwhelming rather than motivating. In four years of teaching, I've worked with around sixty students, a smaller number by deliberate choice, since I prefer real depth with fewer people over spreading my attention thin. My own approach to learning has always been quiet and methodical, a lot of careful, private study rather than group classes or high-pressure practice environments. I work particularly well with introverted students, including several who specifically told me other teachers felt too loud or performative for their genuine comfort. My teaching style is calm, understated, and genuinely low-pressure, without small talk for its own sake or forced positivity that can feel hollow after a while. I care far more about a student feeling settled and unhurried than about filling every second of a lesson with constant activity or chatter. Several students have told me they finally relaxed enough to genuinely enjoy learning English here, after feeling overwhelmed by louder teaching elsewhere previously in their journey. This isn't the studio for big group energy or fast-paced drilling, and that's entirely intentional on my part as a teacher. If quiet and steady sounds appealing, we'll likely get along well.

My lessons run quiet and unhurried, built specifically for students who find fast-paced, high-energy teaching more stressful than genuinely helpful for their learning. I teach entirely online from a calm, simple setup, relying on close, careful listening rather than performance pressure or forced enthusiasm of any kind. Grammar gets introduced slowly and clearly, one concept genuinely settled before the next one is introduced, rather than rushing through a syllabus regardless of comprehension. I send written notes after every single lesson, since I've noticed students absorb feedback far better reading it calmly alone rather than being talked at constantly during the session. Vocabulary builds gradually through small, repeatable exercises, nothing overwhelming, because I've found cramming rarely produces genuinely lasting retention in my experience teaching quietly online. I keep spoken correction minimal and precise, preferring students notice small patterns themselves through focused practice rather than constant interruption from me throughout. Speaking practice happens gently, with plenty of thinking time allowed, since I never want a student to feel rushed or put on the spot unnecessarily. Progress moves at whatever pace genuinely suits the individual student, sometimes slower than typical expectations, because solid, settled learning matters more than speed. There's no pressure here, ever, beyond what a student sets for themselves. This studio exists for people who find loud teaching exhausting.
