About Maisie
I am an ESL tutor with 17 years of experience who has worked with around 150 High School and College students. I enjoy teaching English because it allows me to make a positive difference in students’ academic journeys. I help learners improve their speaking, writing, reading, and listening skills in a way that feels practical and encouraging. My teaching philosophy focuses on clarity, support, and meaningful practice.
I believe that English becomes easier to learn when the lessons are simple and connected to real-life situations. I use different activities such as discussions, storytelling, grammar practice, vocabulary exercises, and writing tasks to help students improve in all areas. One of my notable achievements is helping students who struggled with communication become confident speakers.
Many of my learners now participate more in class, complete assignments more effectively, and speak English more naturally. I also help students understand grammar clearly by breaking it down into easy steps. I create a friendly learning space where students feel free to express themselves and practice without pressure. I guide them patiently and celebrate their progress at every stage. My goal is to equip them with strong English skills that support their education and future success.

My teaching approach for ESL is centered around Communication, Flexibility, Creativity, Accountability, and Integrity. Communication comes first because language is best learned through use. I encourage students to talk, read aloud, share ideas, and participate in guided conversations.
Flexibility allows me to teach learners with different goals. Some want to focus on spoken English, others on grammar, and some need help with writing or reading comprehension. I adjust each lesson accordingly. I also teach related subjects such as Creative Writing, Vocabulary Development, Academic English, and Public Speaking Basics.
Creativity keeps lessons engaging and helps students learn difficult concepts easily. I use stories, role-plays, picture descriptions, listening tasks, and short writing prompts.
Accountability is important for progress. I provide regular feedback, monitor improvement, and give simple tasks to help students stay consistent.
Integrity guides every part of my teaching. I support students with honesty, respect, and patience, helping them build confidence without fear of mistakes.
This approach helps learners build strong English communication skills and understand the language in a meaningful and practical way.
