About Violet
Hi I'm Violet,
I'm a friendly and reliable student, with some recent experience of GCSE tutoring. I have just completed my chemistry degree, at the University of Southampton.
I'm happy to help with GCSE physics and chemistry or general study support. This could include catch up learning, revision, exam technique or ongoing help with class work. As a student ambassador, I've also helped students with their university applications, particularly with personal statements, so this is also something that I can offer.
For the academic year 2020-2021, I am studying in Southampton but living at home in Chichester, so I will be available after school during term time, weekends and throughout the holidays - whatever suits you best. I'm happy to arrange an informal chat to see if/how I can help.

I'm relatively new to tutoring but I've really enjoyed the experience that I've had so far. This means that I have a very flexible approach to tutoring, adapting to whatever suits each individual student - this could include actively explaining concepts, building confidence with learning techniques, working through past papers or homework together or going through work that the student has already completed.
I'm guided by what the individual student thinks would be most helpful for them but I also like to make a loose plan with the student, with their long and short term goals, so that they get the most out of each session. Beginning each session with a recap and ending each session with a summary and a look ahead to the next session is an approach I like to follow. However, I completely understand that a difficult piece of homework or an end of topic test comes up, so we can adapt the plan, to prioritise the most important things to achieve in that session!
