About Alexa
As a college student I worked as a Writing Tutor in our Tutoring lab, spending 3 or more nights a week going through student papers online or in-person to aid in their writing process. Many of these students were international and English was not their first language. This experience helped in understanding the various languages and how translations into English worked. On top of this experience, I worked as an Au Pair in the Netherlands with an 11 year old Dutch boy who was attempting to learn conversational English. By the end of the year not only could he speak English with a slight accent but he also was reading English chapter books!!!

University of Maine at Fort Kent graduate in the English Creative Writing program along with an Secondary Education minor with background in Early Childhood instruction. The philosophy of teaching that is followed is: MAKE IT RELEVANT. Learning the English language is far more than knowing how to properly read and write (although those are important, too. But the necessity of learning English in various contexts and medias (online texts, conversations, professionally, etc) is important to the learning process.
