About Marcella
I've been teaching both privately and in Music Colleges for the past 20 years.
I received my BMus(Hons) in Jazz Performance from Trinity College of Music in London and now split my time between teaching, performing, touring and recording.
I have helped past and present students develop and strengthen their career, start and develop their own bands/musical projects, hone their songwriting skills, grow confidence in their own performance and style, expand their repertoire and have a lot of fun and fulfilling one to one interaction in the process!
Here’s a little bit more context about me:
My performing work with the internationally renowned vocal harmony trio The Puppini Sisters has seen me signed to Universal Records and our work together has taken us all over the world. From performances on The Royal Variety Show to recording on a number of occasions with the brilliant Michael Buble. I have also been fortunate enough to work with other legendary artists and producers such as Gary Barlow, Seal, Bing Crosby, Cyndi Lauper, John Barrowman, David Foster and Bob Rock, to name a few. I've appeared regularly on other TV shows too, such as Strictly Come Dancing, Loose Women, The Graham Norton Show, This Morning, GMTV, The View (USA), and have been gigging, recording and touring internationally for the past 18 years. I also write and arrange music for the band and other projects too.
Aside from The Puppini Sisters, I regularly perform in a solo capacity all around Europe, and I have released several albums of my original material.
I have run several one-off and residential workshops for vocal harmony singers, exploring style and performance as well as technique and blend.
I have also guest tutored at various music establishments such as Middlesex University, Trinity College of Music, The Esplanade in Singapore and the Bologna Conservatoire, doing both one-to-one lessons as well as running singing, theory and stylistic workshops too.

What to expect from your first lesson:
It's important to foster a safe space for you to expand your range and repertoire within and unlock the highlights of your own unique and special voice. We can have a chat to begin and get you feeling relaxed and comfortable. I like to email a short questionnaire to each new student in advance of the first lesson, which helps me to get to know you and the music you want to sing better.
Lesson breakdown:
* Developing the ability to evaluate your own performance
* Warm ups and muscle strengthening exercises to suit your voice, goals and schedule.
* Learning how to efficiently practice songs and expand your range and repertoire in the process.
* Exploration of different sounds, textures, resonances and techniques to build support and relieve tongue root and jaw tension.
* Tactics to deal with performance anxiety and how to foster a positive, mental attitude towards your beautiful voice.
* Strategies to help you smooth over any noticeable breaks/passagios that may cause insecurity when singing.
* Finding you some songs that you just LOVE to sing!
I like to send an email write-up of each lesson detailing what we've covered and what you can work on at home to keep you singing more and pushing forwards with your voice work. Little and often is the best sort of exercise when expanding your vocal range. I like to work with my students in setting regular short and medium term goals that fit in around you and help you to achieve your full vocal potential.
I love that I get to teach people from all over the world and from all sorts of musical backgrounds; from beginners, keen enthusiasts and local choir members to conservatoire/university applicants, professionals and career changers (to music that is!).
