About Maryellen
Music has occupied my space since I was a child. The violin feels like an extension of my own body when I play. My Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance from the Royal College of Music provides a foundation for high-level artistry.
During 5 years of teaching, I have observed that posture and hold serve as the primary conduits for sound. Double stops and vibrato require deep focus on physical mechanics.
I incorporate music theory to bridge the gap between notes on a page and actual performance. Shifting positions becomes natural once the student understands the underlying geometry of the instrument. I frequently guide students through complex classical repertoire to cement these essential habits.
