About Karin
Nineteen years of working with students has taught me that the violin requires a physical focus. I began as a violinist before moving into choral work, and this dual perspective informs how I teach. I prioritize scales and arpeggios because they build the foundation for everything else.
Tone production remains my central concern during our sessions. My left hand agility and posture and hold must remain consistent to prevent fatigue.
I am constantly refining my spiccato and staccato bowing to ensure clarity. I value the way ensemble musicianship changes how one hears a melody. My own practice remains a curious pursuit of sound.

You deserve a teaching method that treats the violin like a language to be acquired. I use custom scale and etude sheets for each student to ensure that your practice is grounded in 6.0 grade standards.
Since I hold a Master of Music from the Schulich School of Music, I emphasize the intersection of voice and strings. Musicality flows when your posture supports your expression.
We will spend 10 minutes on technical drilling before moving to repertoire. This balance helps you integrate complex movements into your playing.
