About Louise
I've tutored online for over 17 years now. In OCR A Level RS Philosophy and Ethics; in English G.C.S.E. I have lots of testimonials from happy students, most of whom achieved at least an A grade. Alongside teaching fulltime in a college, I have tutored about 30 - 40 students through the years.
I have a set of testimonials to be viewed at your request. I have a high success rate with students moving up at least two grades; for example, a student in 2025 achieved an A*, from a starting point of C.
I'm retired now as a teacher/lecturer but continue to tutor online. So, I'm mature and experienced and, as a mother, am familiar with the stresses and struggles (and joys) of studying for A Level.
I have an intuitive yet structured approach, covering the specification requirements, alongside instilling critical thinking and essay-writing skills. I offer resources (at no extra cost) and email availability between lessons re questions/requests for a resource.

I work within the framework of the relevant exam board specification. I send resources for each area of the spec, which both the students and I have on our screens. I link topics within areas of a specification. I build critical thinking skills, and also focus on actual essay writing skills. I give exam essay practice. I provide many relevant resources, and knowledge organisers.
I think that half the battle for students is acquiring a grasp of the spec requirements, and getting a visual of where what they're presently working at fits in to the whole. They then further gain a degree of mastery of their subject.
Most students prefer to take notes throughout the lesson as we are reading through a resource, while I enlarge and deepen their knowledge of the topic at hand, through amplification of the subject matter and context, and gentle questioning, and linking of the topic to other topics in all three components. Additionally, I gain knowledge of the student's weak / strong areas which goes on to inform my teaching on an individual basis.

OCR Philosophy
At the end of lower sixth, mock exam results were graded as a C grade. Essays during lower sixth regularly came back at approximately 17/40 despite effort. There was a feeling of frustration and despondency.
We found Louise through Superprof & First Tutors websites. We were attracted by the fabulous reviews, the extensive experience of the OCR paper/subject as well as the option of online or face-to-face tuition (as we are local to Louise).
Online sessions were started in August 2024 with one hour a week. In September 2024, we increased to 2 separate hours a week and continued with those sessions until April 2025.
These sessions were invaluable. They were well-structured and helped to focus on knowledge as well as technique. Louise gave advice on essay structure and was happy to undertake additional marking as required.
As such, confidence going into the exams was much higher and preparation was excellent.
Delighted to have increased by 3 grades (during the time with Louise) and achieved A* in A level exams in 2025. Actual essay marks (across the 3 papers) were 306/360. Accepted into first choice of University.
Would highly recommend Louise to anyone looking for help in OCR Philosophy.View more recommendations
