About Madelyn
Math has always been my favorite subject in school, especially algebra. I grew up with my mom as an elementary school teacher, so I got to see a lot of behind the scenes of what it takes to lesson plan and teach. I have been babysitting and nannying as well for 7 years, so I have a lot of experience working with kids. I first got into tutoring through a volunteer opportunity through my school. In college, I have now continued to tutor, and really enjoy being able to help inspire a student's confidence in themselves and their abilities.

I like to plan my lessons around having the student have lots of opportunities to practice working with new concepts. When introducing new topics, I start with an overview. Then I like to follow the structure of I do, we do, you do. So I'll do an example problem, then we'll work through one together, and then the student will work on the next problems alone. I also try to make sure the student knows why something operates the way it does, and not just have them follow rules blindly.
