About Romy
I would describe myself first and foremost as somebody who loves learning. I love travelling and immersing myself in different cultures, and believe this love of Spanish/Latin American culture in all forms is something I could bring to my language lessons. This summer I lived and worked in a bookshop in Madrid and have also spent time living and working in Germany.
I really believe that when learning is made fun, nothing is a more exciting or fulfilling journey. My amazing experience with my own Spanish tutor completely changed my life, inspiring me to seek out new career and life goals which I would have never considered otherwise. I'm now fully bilingual (with hopes of becoming trilingual!), have lived in another part of the world and discovered a whole new world of art and culture never available to me before. All of this started with my amazing online tutor; I would absolutely love to inspire the same passion for literature or languages in somebody else!

I am very flexible with lesson lengths, but a typical session would probably be between 30mins to 2 hours max. I think creating an environment where students feel comfortable is crucial to learning, as well as having fun! Most important - particularly with languages - is practice, practice, practice! I had a Spanish tutor myself and after 2 years of lessons with her I spoke fluent Spanish and even moved to Madrid - therefore I know which tactics work to get students confident speaking, reading and writing. Languages lessons with me would be mainly about as much language exposure as possible, but of course going at a pace where students are not overwhelmed. Speaking as much as possible is really the best way!
I also really believe in giving loads of feedback and corrections so students make steady and speedy progress. I'm happy to read anything 50 times to make sure it's perfect, provide practice tests, help edit essays etc. I have loads of resources from GCSE and A-level English Literature AND Spanish and would love sharing them! My Spanish tutor really gave me an amazing experience with online tutoring, so I truly value the money and time parents/students invest into the service; I would do my absolute best to make sure everyone gets the most out of the exchange.
I have experience working with primary school age children and loved it, but I also feel I'm well-suited to working with GCSE and A Level students as I actually tutored two of my peers during this period of my own education. I loved sharing resources and discussing the subjects at a higher level, which is where they get really interesting and fun to learn about :)
