I like to adapt my methods for the pupil. Each person is different and therefore requires different approaches. I have taught a range of students from children to adults and my teaching style varies greatly! I always encourage and motivate in a way that gets the students inspired to make improvements through their own private practice and not rely on there time with me to improve.
I started the oboe at age 10 and after learning for two years I was awarded a scholarship to go to the Purcell school (a specialist music school) where I learned from incredible music teachers for the rest of my school years. After finishing school I was offered a place and scholarship at the Royal College of Music in 2012. During my four year BMus Hons course this is when I realised how important teaching is and when I started to seek out pupils. I did a specialist teaching module that inspired me and gave me so much experience to get me started. I graduated in 2016 and continued at the RCM with a scholarship to do a masters during which I always taught alongside. Since graduating and leaving the RCM in July 2018 I have been doing lots of different things! Working as a freelance musician, playing concerts, doing auditions and teaching privately, but also dog walking, stewarding at the Royal Albert Hall, brewing for Umbrella Brewing co.!
