About Asako
I was born in Yokohama, Japan and started playing the violin and piano at 3 years old using the Suzuki method. I attended Yokohama Music school and the prestigious Toho Gakuen Music academy for 11 years and performed as part of the orchestra. I was tutored by Asako Iwasawa, Winner of the Marguerite Long–Jacques Thibaud Competition. I was then invited to attend the Tokyo College of Music High School for 3 years where I studied with Prof Kousaku Yamaoka and Kastuhiko Tamaki. I then won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music but chose to study at the Royal College of Music where I completed her BMus studying under Prof Yuri Zhislin, Natalia Lomeiko and Ani Schnarch. During my four years I performed under such notable conductors as Vladimir Ashkenazy and Bernard Johan Herman Haitink. I have been teaching for over 10 years and some students have been with me for over 7 years and have assisted them with their entry into the Royal College of Music Junior Department.

English
My name is Asako and I am a very experienced violin and piano teacher. I like to teach all ages, but I often teach 5+ from grade 3 to Advanced.
With over 18 years of experience of teaching both in Wiltshire and in London and I have helped students' progress form grade 1 all the way to Diploma. I have also taught students from multiple backgrounds and nationalities and can readily tackle students whose first language isn't English.
I have a BMus (Honours) from the Royal College of Musics and can provide a clear check on the CRB.
I like to get my students comfortable and get to know them. I adjust my teaching style to get the best results depending on the aim of the student.
I teach either half hour or one-hour focused lesson with one student.
I use a bespoke teaching method for each student (suziki, others) for children aiming for scholarships preparing for ABRSM.
