About Holly
Hello! My name is Holly, and I'm an English and Drama student at the University of Exeter. I am a gregarious and outgoing student who achieved the grades of AAA*A* at A-Level, an 8 in English Literature GCSE, and a 9 in English Language GCSE. As I myself experienced the difficulties surrounding dyspraxia and dyscalculia nearly every day of my school life, I understand that exam periods can be a stressful and difficult time for those who have those sort of issues. I absolutely adore reading, and try and write as much of my own material as possible, and one day I think it would be fun to publish my own collection of poems!
One of my favourite modules I have studied this term at University is 'Shakespeare and EcoDramaturgy', where I was lucky enough to stage a performance of 'Cymbeline', that I co-created, at ShakespeareLink's 'The Willow Globe' in Wales. (They have excellent resources on their website, by the way, for all you Shakespeare students!)
I'm also currently a Facilitator for the University of Exeter's Acting Society, and help run 'Players' sessions for large groups of students, who come from different year groups and backgrounds. My dream job is to work as a scriptwriter or (if I'm lucky) as an actor, but I think any job where I'm able to write and express myself would be amazing.

Due to my dyspraxia and dyscalculia, I have a unique perspective when it comes to teaching students with similar SEN requirements such as dyslexia. Each lesson is bespoke to the individual student, and will follow a kinaesthetic, visual or auditory learning style depending on the preference of the student.
Exam preparation is obviously paramount, but my lessons are not boring and formulaic in their approach to technique, and will instead focus on a holistic approach to revision. Every lesson will start with a warm-up, where we take a look at a starter activity to get the cogs turning before moving on to the larger section of the lesson (topics will be decided by the student in advance). I will also end every lesson with a warm down, which features not only an educational activity, but a chance for the student to discuss their feelings about the lesson; what are they struggling with? what are they proud of? what can I, as a tutor, improve upon?
