About Veranika
I was a linguistics student before I moved to the U.S. to start my education here. Before, I was particularly interested in translation and interpretation, and that has made me wonder how Russian and English compare to each other and how bilingual people think. Teaching Russian is a way for me to remember my core, what constitutes my understanding of the world and influences how I describe it for myself. I’ve lived in an English-speaking environment for 6 years, so teaching it is also a way to get in touch with who I am deep inside, and that is a meaningful job.

Depending on the student’s goals, I can create a plan to achieve short-term and long-term goals or go with the flow and teach language through conversation and exploring particular interests. I try to find many ways for the student to understand the subject and develop a personalized approach. I enjoy talking about the correct vocabulary usage, dialects, jargon, and grammar forms. I am also a big fan of wordplay and comedy, and I see language as an endless source of creativity.
