Having numerous years of experience of music education as a student, and having had lessons with a number of world class musicians, and educators, I have always had a strong connection with music education. I draw upon what worked for, and inspired, me as an aspiring musician. My basic philosophy on teaching is that it’s best to tailor each lesson to the students interest, but use the expertise I have to direct the students interest, and ground it in good instrumental technique and musicianship. I also strongly believe that that teaching students about the recordings and musicians relevant to their music education is essential and I always try to teach students through sharing my passion for music as well as passing on my knowledge as a saxophonist.
I studied jazz saxophone at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and now work as a performing/recording musician. I have a wealth of teaching experience (both private, and as a Royal Borough of Greenwich music hub tutor), and am currently looking for more students!
While I specialise in Jazz, I am comfortable teaching all styles of contemporary, and popular music, and can tailor lessons to you, or your childs, particular needs and interests. I am able to come to you, or provide lessons from my studio, in Brixton/Loughborough junction.
