About Sean
- What kind of experience do you have?
I am a London-based professional freelance singer/teacher. I have been performing and making music internationally at a high level since my earliest training as a 9-year-old Cathedral Chorister! Before moving to London in 2009, I coached privately in Edinburgh and also ran after-school group singing classes for 9-11 year olds.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes I do.
- Where and with whom did you train?
I began singing lessons privately in Edinburgh before studying music (focusing on singing) with Andrew Doig at Edinburgh Napier University. Following that, I studied with the renowned tenor Lynton Atkinson at Trinity College of Music in London.

I am an enthusiastic, experienced and friendly teacher. My teaching combines a strong grounding in technique with confidence building and repertoire coaching, based on 20 years of singing experience.
- Which subject(s) do you teach?
I teach singing technique and provide coaching on repertoire ranging from Classical to Music Theatre. I can also teach beginners piano and music theory.
- Tell me about your qualifications.
I hold a Master of Music (MMus) with distinction from Trinity College of Music, London, where I specialised in vocal studies. I also hold a Bachelor of Music with honours (first class) from Edinburgh Napier University. I am a proficient pianist so can accompany my students during lessons.
- How much do you charge?
I currently charge £35 for one hour and £17.50 for 30 minutes.
- Where do you teach?
I can teach from home in Brixton, where I have a large, bright room with a piano. I am also happy to travel to surrounding areas (Balham, Clapham, Streatham, Tooting, Wandsworth, Battersea etc) and in other areas of London by arrangement.
- When are you available?
As a freelance musician and teacher, my working hours are flexbile so I can arrange lesson times to suit individual students. Please contact me to arrange the best time.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
Everyone is welcome! I have taught people of different ages and stages, from beginners to more advanced. I tailor my lessons to suit the individual.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
Depending on the needs of the student, I can help with preparation for school and college exams, ABRSM grades and auditions.
