About Carla
My dream to become an educator started when I established a home childcare and spent the days teaching numbers, colors, sight words, nursery rhymes, and helping the older children with homework. This led to me go back to school and earn an education degree. I have taught in the educational setting for the past 16 years. I have been employed in diverse roles within the education sector as teacher, substitute, instructional support, childcare lead teacher, volunteer, and tutor.
I have my Bachelor of Science in Psychology, and Master of Education Degree (PK-8). I have also worked with high schoolers and homebound students.

What I have learned in my 16 years of working in the education sector, is to incorporate all the learning styles within the lesson, so the student has an understanding of the lesson. In my class, the student will use their prior knowledge, share ideas, participate through discussion to help develop their math skills. A typical lesson plan is starting with the objective and building upon each unit within the lesson. After each unit there is always a review to gauge the student's comprehension of the material. Each lesson ends with questions and answers. As a tutor I am detailed, flexible in teaching, creative, and I try to keep learning as fun as possible. My lessons are for students who want to learn a subject, for students who need assistance with a topic they are finding challenging, and students who want additional practice with Math.
