About Peter
I am a Teacher of English as a Second Language (TESOL) professional who has been in the field since my Peace Corps days in Morocco. Since then, I've been at the UW in Seattle since 1986 in Academic English.

I believe that students learn best in a comfortable environment working with the various skill areas of reading, writing, listening and speaking in a combined, corpus approach to learning English. Depending on the students' interests, one of the skill areas, such as Academic writing, can be the focus. Practice is key and I expect my students to work with the tools, which I give them during our time together, outside of class. This helps to cement the aspects of the language into the memory, to be referred to, using the appropriate tools, when needed. Learning is a two-way street and I learn as much from my students as they do from me. I am open to suggestion and can change directions in my lessons immediately, if need be to provide the optimal learning experience.
