Learning isn’t simply a matter of repeating the same thing over again until it’s ingrained in memory - developing an understanding of the topic is also essential. I achieve this by holding discussions with my tutees, not just reciting what it is they ought to know until they remember it. This allows them to get a much firmer sense of the topic, allowing them to articulate and challenge the ideas presented with greater intelligence and confidence.
I’m articulate and passionate about my chosen subjects, and can therefore explain concepts clearly and in ways that can be understood regardless of how familiar my tutee is with the topic. I also have the added benefit of being very friendly.
