About Christopher

Throughout my career I havehad responsibility for KS3 History and Humanities, iGCSE KS4 History and A-Level KS5 History but also have experience teaching the International Baccalaureate at Coleg Sir Gar, Llanelli. I have developed a wide variety of teaching and learning strategies to support the diverse needs of different student’s ability levels and age groups.

I am an experienced teacher of History and the humanities throughout the key stages as well as experience as a Learning Support Assistant and as a U.S. Army ROTC Instructor. I believe strongly in the use of visual, auditory and kinaesthetic learning to create an engaging and inclusive learning environment.

The use of assessment in education to raise achievement and progress is extremely important. I have developed my ability to continually track pupils’ progress using data spreadsheets Power School and SIMS. Through the use of critical data I am able to plan successful lessons and ensure pupils make progress.

I continuously inform students of their progress to inform their development and plan lessons that challenge gifted students, stretch middle learners and support those with additional learning needs.

About the lesson

I currently hold Qualified Teacher Status and was rated as ‘Outstanding’ at the completion of my induction years. I also hold QTS status at Further Education standard level. I received an ‘Excellent’ rating at the completion of this course and remained at Coleg Sir Gar as a Teacher of History to A/S and A Level standard.

My previous position was Subject Coordinator of History at the Confucius International School in Qingdao, China. This school followed the UK National Curriculum and Edexcel iGCSE/iAL programme.I received 100% A*-C and 75% A* - A grades in the 2015/2016 iGCSE examinations. I established a working A Level Programme based on the Edexcel Examination Board Programme. I was also responsible for developing a viable Gifted and Talented programme that would support higher ability students in their applications for Tier 1 universities. This included supervising independent projects as a part f the Extended Project Qualification (Edexcel).
