About Lila
I am 18 years old and on my gap year. I was accepted into Edinburgh for a joint honours of History and German and I wish to assist struggling students who are perhaps foreign to the German language or are bilingual but are not familiar with the formal grammatical requirements of the exams. I wish to focus first on exam strategy and secondly on inspiring an appreciation for German, not just as a GCSE subject and below, but as one of the most widely spoken native languages across Europe and beyond.

While I am new to formal tutoring, I have much experience with taught German in British Secondary Schools, being a recent graduate myself. I am able to grasp the differing requirements of each individual exam board. I prepare each lesson around the student's strengths and weaknesses strategically to give them the best chance of a high score. I believe in worked examples, repetition and questions to ensure they have consolidated their knowledge rather than simply memorising the material so they can understand it. Topic related vocabulary and foundational grammar are the key components and through encouragement and discipline, I can help your child to feel comfortable speaking both "Hoch Deutsch" (High German) and conversational, should they wish to pursue it further.
