About Rick
I’ve been teaching History for 21 years, and it’s a career I genuinely love. I enjoy helping students make sense of the past, but even more than that, I enjoy seeing their confidence grow.
I’m calm, patient, and straightforward in my teaching. I know that many students find History difficult not because they lack ability, but because they’re unsure how to structure answers or approach exams. I focus on making things clear, manageable, and achievable.
I’m a firm believer in steady progress over pressure. I create a supportive learning environment where students feel listened to and encouraged, while still being challenged to improve.
As a parent as well as a teacher, I understand the importance of reassurance, consistency, and trust. My aim is simple: to help students feel more confident, more capable, and better prepared for their GCSE exams.

My lessons are clear, structured, and focused on GCSE exam success. With 21 years of classroom experience, I know how to help students improve confidence, understanding, and results.
Each lesson is tailored to the student’s exam board, topic, and individual needs. I break content down clearly and focus on what makes the biggest difference in exams.

• essay structure and written answers
• source analysis
• revision strategies and confidence building
Lessons are calm, supportive, and practical. Students are shown how to answer questions effectively, not just what to revise, so they can apply skills independently.
I offer support for revision, catch-up and targeted exam preparation online.
