About Leniah
With nearly a decade of cello experience, I’ve grown up with music and understand to a T what beginners typically struggle with. I currently play in my high school’s top audition symphony, where I’ve spent the last three years strengthening my technique, musicianship, and discipline. I also play the upright bass in another school group, which has helped me understand music from a different perspective. Last year, I was honored to receive an “Esprit de Corps” award, recognizing dedication, teamwork, and a positive attitude in our program. Beyond musical experience, I’ve worked with kids for years: through volunteering, mentoring younger students, and participating in Platinum Strings, an after-school program for 5th and 6th graders. I’m also the eldest of five children, so patience, clear communication, and humor are just part of who I am, haha.

One of the biggest challenges for a child learning something new (especially an instrument) is finding confidence. I focus on creating a relaxed, encouraging environment where kids feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and celebrating progress! I teach at their pace and do my best to make sure they walk out of every lesson feeling accomplished.
A typical lesson would include:
- Quick warm-up/review
-Clear explanation of the day’s task
- Practice together
- Independent try
- Short recap + next steps
As a high school senior, I relate easily to younger kids—and even more so now that I’ve started a few new instruments of my own. I’m hoping to help develop cellists that love their craft just as much as I do!
