I can offer online tutoring on A-E assessments, assignment support and guidance. I have been a qualified nurse for 11 years, with experience in the NHS and private healthcare settings with a specialty in child protection.

My lessons are for nursing students of all fields level 4-6 (Year 1-3).

We will start by identifying where you require support, and develop a lesson to meet your needs.

My approach to supporting you takes an ethical standpoint and considers academic integrity, therefore I cannot proofread full assignments before submission, but I can help you with understanding exactly how to meet your learning outcomes, developing essay plans, referencing, understanding clinical skills and overall support.

  • 1) When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

One day, when I was a child, I was shopping with my mother. We saw a lady having a seizure, and nobody knew how to help her. That day, I decided that I wanted to be a nurse. As a got older, I knew that I wanted to work with children, therefore I became a children's nurse!

Now I am dedicated to supporting nursing students to achieve their goals, contributing to a safe, and competent nursing workforce.
  • 2) Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach numerous modules in all fields of nursing. This includes research, health promotion, ethics, and clinical skills. My favourite modules to teach are social science based and health promotion. I also specialise in child protection. When I teach these modules, I learn so much from the students about different cultures, ideas and attitudes toward health.
  • 3) Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

It sound's cliche, but my mother is my role model. She has been in education for many years, and she is a fantastic teacher. She inspired my career switch from the healthcare sector, to education.
  • 4) What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Patience and a non-judgemental approach are key. It is important that my students trust me to tell me what they don't know, so I can support them in filling that gap in their knowledge. I am also never scared to admit when I don't know the answer to something, but the key is making sure you find the answer!
  • 5) Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I failed my final assignment to become a nurse. It was a research module and I wasn't very confident with research and struggled to understand what was expected of me. I had to do a second attempt.

I found this very difficult because my peers were all getting ready to start their first nursing jobs, and I was still waiting to see if I had passed the module. Needless to say that I did pass, and now I teach research to nursing students! And because I failed, I know exactly how to teach research in a way that everyone can understand. Do not worry if you have failed an assignment, it is an opportunity to try again, but with more knowledge than you had the first time.
  • 6) What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

I will never forget what it was like being a nursing student. In my opinion, nursing is one of the hardest courses that you can ever do because there is so much commitment involved both in university and in placement settings. I remember being worried to admit if I didn't know something; and being scared to even answer the hospital ward phone! But with the right mentorship and support, I got through it. I now want to provide that support for the next generation of nurses.
  • 7) Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My passion is teaching and supporting students. A nursing course will push you to develop personally and professionally more than you realise. I appreciate that this can also be challenging. I love helping students to build and grow into competent and confident nurses. My favourite part of my role is the pastoral care and mentorship side.
  • 8) What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these interview questions :-P) ?

My patience and my passion. My goal is to meet you where you are and take you to a place you dream to be.
