About Theo

I am a sixth form student who is currently at City and Islington College studying English Lit/lang, Politics and sociology. I've had the opportunity to tutor students struggling with there GCSE English lessons at my previous sixth form and saw an improvement in the ways they tackled the texts given to them within the first three lessons I saw them. I have a grade 7 (equivalent to an A) in both GCSE English language, literature and a merit in English speaking. My target grade for my A level course is an A. I would love to use my mentoring skills and my extensive knowledge of the subject of English in a productive way so I'm happy to help whoever needs it!

About the lesson

My teaching method revolves around homing in on the weaknesses of the student (who may for example struggle with creative writing) and ease them into it by using examples that make them feel comfortable. What i found worked when I was taught English, was not to ramble on and fill the students mind with knowledge, but to go at at a pace that makes them feel comfortable and that allows them to retain the information. Using examples that relate to the student has also helped me in the past when teaching new areas of English to students so I tend to go with that approach with whoever I mentor or teach.
