About Tess
I’m a singing tutor with over 7 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Musical Theatre Voice. I provide personalized lessons for students at all levels—whether you’re in school, college, or an adult professional. My teaching covers a wide range of styles, including classical, pop, movie, and folk singing, so we can find what suits your voice best. I focus on ear training, harmony, improvisation, and music theory to help you become a well-rounded singer. Building vocal confidence is one of my top priorities, and I use safe vocal techniques to protect and strengthen your voice. My singing approach is designed to support both The Music Major and The Suzuki Student as they prepare for auditions and build a strong vocal portfolio. We start with careful song selection, choosing pieces that highlight each singer’s strengths while challenging their range and style. Matching vocal tone to the song is key, helping singers develop control and emotional connection.
Both personas benefit from vocal agility exercises that improve flexibility and precision. Mock auditions simulate real performance conditions, boosting confidence and reducing nerves. Exploring a variety of genres broadens musical understanding and adaptability.
I recommend using backing track apps to practice timing and accompaniment, lyric trainers for memorization, and pitch analyzers to track intonation. These tools provide clear feedback and enhance focused practice.
Together, these methods build technical skill and stage readiness. The result is a well-rounded, confident singer prepared to impress at auditions and beyond.
