I'm a friendly, approachable, recently retired social science lecturer. However after retiring, I missed working in education and I obtained a part time position as a support for learning assistant in an FE college. This role has given me further insight in to the issues students face and I am experienced in helping them with study skills and related issues such as stress management.
I have a Bsc degree in Social Science from the Open University and a TQFE from Stirling university so I understand only too well how much of a challenge balancing studying with a busy life can be.
My specialist areas are Applied Psychology and Sociology and I have completed a Professional Development Award in Facilitating mindfulness with young people. I recently gained a further qualification in teaching the 'Mindfulness for Life' course. I am happy to share this valuable life skill with my tutees together with teaching the required subjects.
I have over twenty years of experience in educational settings and have been giving lessons to tutees for about ten years. My students rarely obtain anything less than 'B' passes in highers and standard grades and 2.1 passes at degree level- provided they are determined to work as hard as I do !
Flat rate of 30 per hour for all.

I have known Christine professionally for over 15 years and have always found her to be highly knowledgeable, professional and skilled in her area. She has a natural ability to bring out the best in her students, make learning enjoyable and rewarding by tapping into their individual learning styles and preferences. Christine recognises the challenges that self-study brings and ensures that her students feel supported at all times. She is approachable, mindful of students needs and always helpful.
Christine is an excellent tutor that always provides a friendly and helpful approach to learning. Thanks to her help and support, I received an A in higher psychology and secured my place at university.
Christine taught higher Sociology to me during the FAST programme at Falkirk college. I had no background in Sociology and also suffer from severe mental health issues. Christine was always available and supportive helping me with techniques to manage my stress levels and study techniques to aid with my study. She always taught in a relaxed, friendly manner that encouraged questions and enabled cooperative learning with interactive exercises. Safe to say I now have my Higher in Sociology and am well on my way to my degree in Sociology. A subject I would have never considered had it not been for Christine. She is truly one of the finest, professional and most trustworthy teachers I have had the pleasure to study with and would recommend her services to anyone.
