Social sciences/criminology PhD offers writing and research methodology tutoring: qual, quant, mixed methods. 20 years experience.

Methodology

I teach one to one only and remotely. I can meet on zoom or other programs. I work with a student to first establish what they need to do and what they need to learn, and then together we put together an action plan and break it down into manageable chunks. In each lesson we will work towards achieving that plan and I will also set homework for the student to do at home. I have worked extensively with students whose first language is not English, including from Europe, Asia and the Middle East.

Experience

I have worked as a social researcher for nearly twenty years in a range of settings, in academia, in the public and charitable sector. I offer tuition to under-graduate and PHD students on writing and research methods.

I have worked as a researcher at three universities including two members of the prestigious Russel Group and in 2016 I graduated with a PhD in Criminal Justice Studies from the University of Leeds Law School, one of the top law schools in the country. I have taught on UG and PGR programs. I am an accomplished quantitative researcher and have been working on quantitative data for the better part of 20 years. I have also conducted significant qualitative research including several hundred interviews, participant observation and focus groups. I have also worked with public sector bodies, local government agencies, charities and other organisations on projects relating to public health and social care, criminal justice, ageing, and youth policy.

I have published and co-authored articles and book chapters, including repeat chapters in a textbook published by Oxford University Press, and in leading academic journals and other forums. I have presented complex statistical and research data to a broad range of stakeholders, including to civil servants and high profile researchers, at for instance a conference run by the Royal Statistical Society in 2017, to practitioners – at for instance regional forums, and members of the public – at a community engagement events and such like. I have also present to internal and external stakeholders at research events – to research funders like the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, the Nuffield Foundation and the Macmillan Cancer Support, among others.

Perfect! Thank you very much for your help! Peter was very supportive and dedicated. As an international student, sometimes I find it hard to catch up with the information at class. However, I felt that in 1 hour being tutored by Peter, he helped me understand a lot more. Peter not only helped me with proofread, but also helped me explain some technical questions I didn't understand.

I am very pleased and I would recommend peter to others

Peter's response
