About Roisin
I am a qualified UK-based Sociology teacher with 20 years of experience and 7 years A Level examiner experience. I have a very strong understanding of exactly what examiners are looking for. Past results with students have been exceptional and I really do enjoy supporting them to achieve far beyond what they initially think is possible.
During my teaching career I have also held senior leadership roles, giving me a broad understanding of how students learn, what can get in the way of progress and how to help move them forward.
I really love Sociology and I know how to connect contemporary examples with ensuring high application marks in the exams.
My approach is friendly, supportive, warm and straightforward. I want students to feel comfortable saying when they don't understand something whilst also being challenged to make genuine progress.
I adapt my teaching to the individual. Whether a student is lacking confidence, has particular gaps to address or is already achieving highly and wants to secure an A*, I will be able to support them.
I have a strong understanding of revision and study skills and can support with motivation and organisational barriers to success as well.

I will start by diagnosing exactly which areas you find challenging and I will set the priority areas with you, so we draw up a plan that will lead to an improved exam result and increased confidence.
I support students of all abilities whether you are struggling with the basics, want to move from a C to an A/A* grade or just want a short period of support with a very specific topic or skill.
I include high-quality resources in my sessions that you can keep.
