About Stephanie

I worked as a software engineer for years, having originally learned much of my own English at an intensive coding bootcamp abroad rather than through traditional classroom study. Five years into teaching now, I've worked with about eighty-five students, many of them fellow tech professionals or students heading into technical fields themselves. My tech background gives me unusually direct insight into exactly what kind of English actually matters in a modern workplace, insight generic teachers often lack completely. I work particularly well with students in or entering technical fields, since I understand precisely the specific communication challenges that environment genuinely presents. My teaching style is practical and structured, reflecting my own engineering background, though I remain genuinely patient with students working through unfamiliar, sometimes intimidating material. I have guided numerous students toward confident workplace communication, drawing on real, lived tech industry experience rather than purely academic English training alone. Students consistently tell me the specificity of my tech-focused lessons feels far more useful than generic business English courses they tried previously. I take genuine pride in helping students walk confidently into a stand-up meeting or write a genuinely clear technical message. After five years, I remain genuinely passionate about this practical, tech-focused teaching approach.

English

I learned much of my own English attending a coding bootcamp abroad, surrounded by technical documentation, stand-up meetings, and code reviews rather than a traditional classroom setting. My lessons lean heavily toward practical, tech-relevant English, reading documentation, writing clear messages to colleagues, explaining technical ideas simply and confidently. Vocabulary focuses on workplace and technical communication, the exact words I personally needed and often lacked during my own early, confusing days in tech roles abroad. Grammar gets taught through real workplace writing, emails, pull request comments, technical explanations, since that's genuinely where I noticed my own English needed the most improvement. I run mock stand-up meetings and code review conversations, giving students realistic practice explaining technical work clearly under mild real time pressure. Listening practice includes tech talks and workplace meeting recordings, exposing students to natural, sometimes fast, jargon-heavy speech they'll actually encounter in real tech environments. I teach students to ask clarifying questions confidently in meetings, a skill that took me embarrassingly long to develop myself during my early career. Writing clear, concise technical messages gets dedicated focus, since I watched unclear communication cause real confusion and wasted time repeatedly in team settings. Every lesson stays genuinely practical and workplace-focused, built from real tech industry experience rather than generic assumptions.
