About Carly
I am very passionate about teaching French and Spanish and about all things language-related! I very much enjoy being a teacher and tutoring is also very rewarding, as you can really tailor lessons to an individual's needs and see quick progress.

Experience:
I have taught Spanish and French for nearly 16 years, with experience of teaching A Level, GCSE and IGCSE in mixed and single-sex comprehensive, grammar and independent schools. I have tutored GCSE, IGCSE and A Level students as well as adult beginners. I have also prepared students for Oxbridge entrance exams and have worked as an examiner for AQA and Edexcel (reading and writing).
Qualifications:
I have a First Class degree in Spanish and French, including a Year Abroad in Mexico and Paris. I have travelled extensively in Latin America to supplement my studies and soak up the Spanish-speaking culture! I completed a PGCE and a Masters in Modern Foreign Languages Education.
Techniques and teaching methodology:
Drawing on this wealth of experience, my lessons are highly tailored to the requirements of the exam specifications and include a range of engaging resources and challenging activities. My particular strength is identifying and working with individual learning styles.
Lessons typically last an hour, with 5/10 minutes at the beginning checking retention of the previous lesson's content and 5 at the end dedicated to making a plan for the next lesson. The first lesson will be identifying areas of strength and areas for improvement or development to work towards.

Perfect! Carly is a very clear, very precise teacher who creates a lot of helpful resources. She pays close attention to her student's needs and focusses in on the areas that need extra support. Carly has helped my daughter prepare for her Spanish Speaking exam and took her from being relatively under-confident, to speaking in Spanish in a relaxed manner, using complex sentence structures. We are very happy with all the help she has provided.
